NEW ALBUM ‘DARK HORIZONS’

We’re excited to announce the release of our debut album DARK HORIZONS on Feb 12 2021 through Immrama Records/Gonzo Multimedia.

The album features some amazing special guests – Steve Hackett, John Helliwell, Craig Blundell, Troy Donockley, Luke Machin and Gonzalo Carrera. It was produced by Ian who also created the ‘Dark Horizons’ cover artwork. The album was mixed by top mix engineer engineer and long term Karnataka collaborator, Joe Gibb (Massive Attack, The Cure, Leftfield) . The album was mastered by Pete Maher (U2, The Rolling Stones) who mastered last year’s Chasing The Monsoon release No Ordinary World. The album will be released in the following formats:

• CD deluxe digipak
• Double vinyl gatefold sleeve
• USB card in digipak
• Download – WAV, FLAC and MP3

New single and video ‘BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS’

We’re excited to announce the release of our debut single ‘Blood On Your Hands’ on 27/11/20. The track is the first release from the forthcoming album Dark Horizons released on 12/2/21 and  is available to pre-order from the online store.

Blood On Your Hands will be available to download from all major online music stores from Nov 27th.

Over the past year we’ve also been working with video director Chris Lavelle of LDi Studios on a video for Blood On Your Hands. We were already familar with Chris’s work and loved his vision and distinct style, so we were very pleased when he agreed to team up with us to work on this project. We’ll be premiering the video on Nov 27th with the release of the single. The video will be available through YouTube, Vevo, Tidal and iTunes. We’re looking forward to working with Chris again on future projects.  

Joe Gibb mixing

Long time Karnataka collaborator and top mix engineer Joe Gibb has been weaving his magic to finish the mixing on the debut ILLUMINAE album. As well as working on many of the Karnataka releases, Joe has also worked with artists including Massive Attack, The Cure and Leftfield, to mention just a few. Album release details coming soon.

John Helliwell, Supertramp saxophonist special guest

No list of great saxophonists and classic sax solos would be complete without the presence of Supertramp saxophonist John Helliwell, so we’re very pleased to announce that John has just recorded some great sax (and clarinet) parts for a track on the debut Illuminae album.

Thanks to John Ellis for recording the session at his wonderful Limefield Studio in Manchester.

The debut album recording is now almost finished with Ian currently working on some production before we start mixing the album.

New album recording update

The new album is taking shape very nicely and we’re now in the final stages of production.
We’ve been focussing on vocals recently with most of the tracks now completed.
We’re already planning the mixing and we’ll be announce further details soon.

Album recording update

We’ve been very busy in the studio working on the new ILLUMINAE album. Great to hear the tracks and production really starting to take shape.
Recently we’ve been focusing on vocals – Agnieszka has been doing some great work on vocal arrangements and has been in the studio laying down the vocal tracks.
Luke Machin recently finished recording his guitar parts for the album – some very special moments there. We’ll be bringing you more ILLUMINAE updates soon.

Recording bass

Ian has finished recording all the bass and bass pedal parts for the new album.

Ian said “It’s been a great experience recording the bass parts for the new album. Craig’s superb drums have really enabled me to be more expressive with the bass, probably more than any album I’m worked on. The diversity of the tracks has helped too but it’s nice to feel the bass taking a more central role sometimes.”
